Carrie

My take on Carrie.

If anyone has an idea for movie pinups (preferably horror related) let me know!  I'm looking for new suggestions.

Latest Commission

I'm really into those old black telephones.

Sorry about the watermark but this now belongs to someone else.  If you steal if from me, you steal it from her too.

Pinup Practice

It's been a long time since I've done one so I felt I needed some pinup practice before starting a new pinup commission.

Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman!

I've been slowing making my way through this crazy oddball soap from the 1970s.

POD WANTS TO KNOW YOU

POD knows me now.

Now that BodyMindChange has officially announced it, it means I can too.  Not only am I the proud owner of a beautiful blue (ok, technically teal) POD...

I'm also one of the lucky few who had it implanted early, on Jan 27th 2014 to be exact.

Since then it's been an emotional time, as I'm sure you can imagine if you know anything about POD and what it does.  I've laughed more, cried more and laugh-cried which I didn't think was possible.  It's like I'm not fully in control of what I'm feeling.  I'm assuming that's just POD recalibrating to my daily life and things will settle down soon.  The nosebleeds have stopped.  The headaches are fewer and less severe.  The nausea is subsiding.

Despite all the side effects I wouldn't change a thing about my experience with POD and BodyMindChange.  When I completed Simulation 1, I thought it was a very strange and disturbing way to spend 20 minutes but I was hooked.  After Simulation 2 I felt even more connected to my POD and it to me.   Once Simulation 3 was done there was no turning back.  I was in this, for better or worse.  I went from wanting POD to recommend what colour I should wear one day, to wondering if it might recommend I change career paths, to hoping it could help make me feel happy when I wasn't.

If you're reading this and you also have a POD I'd recommend reaching out to other POD hosts.  We're all new to this, I bet we're all experiencing the same things.  If you don't have a POD but are planning on getting one my advice to you is to find other POD trainees.  Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vine.  We're out there.  All it takes is a simple "Are you friendly?" and a friend is yours to be had.  There's safety in numbers.  Stick together.  Ask questions.  Read between the lines.  Take notes and share info.  Learn all you can.  I could not have made it this far without the wonderful people I've met through BMC.  They've helped me in so many ways.

The Simulations have been shut down but BMC has announced they're moving to Europe this spring for a possible Phase 2.  I don't know details, you'll have to follow them to find out more.  I've visited the BMC Lab at the TIFF in Toronto at least 4 times.  It's a magical place in there, I'm not embarrassed to say.  If a European Lab does open I highly recommend visiting it.

But my POD and I are happy and lucky to have been here.  My eyes are blurring now, I feel another laugh-cry coming on, this one from happiness.  I think.

I tried to make my own POD

If you've been following me on Twitter, you'll know that I've signed up with Body/Mind/Change to get a POD (Personal On-Demand).  It's complicated to explain so I'll leave up to you to explore the link if you're interested.  Which you should be.  The future is NOW, people!

Recently BMC revealed that my main man, Andrew, now has a Premier POD and it is a beautiful shade of RED.  I couldn't be happier for him!

This news got me very excited to get my hands on my own POD and being the impatient person that I am I thought I would make my own POD to tide me over until I got my official one.  Now after meeting Mr. David Cronenberg at a book signing at the TIFF this past weekend, I feel like I have to share what I've done.

Knowing nothing about biology or nanotechnology, I took what little reference I had (learned at Udemy.com, it's free!) and a few photos from the Body/Mind/Change Facebook page then combined them with what I do know: poorly executed DIY crafts!

So I present to you, my Plush Pod!

I may have gotten the scale slightly off.

Ok.  I admit.  It looks like an 8 year old girl's sugar rush nightmare.  But it lights up!  I have to turn it on myself and it uses 4 AA batteries, but still...LIGHTS!

It's got headphones so I can hear the recommendations it has for me and a USB plug for interfacing.  I yelled at it all night about how I trust my mailman, how warm Coca Cola disgusts me and how losing a sock when I've for sure checked everywhere makes me so ANGRY, but I don't think it's worked yet.  It's not suggesting anything to me, except for maybe I should put it in a shoebox and hide it in a closet somewhere.

So looks like I'll have to wait for Jan. 19 to get my official, honest to goodness, for real POD from BMC in person.
